Strawberry Festival is a day set up at our church that is open to the public. We sell all you can eat "Strawberry Shortcake" (using biscuits for the shortcake, whipped topping, and strawberries), hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, and much more. It is a fundraiser in which our church donates to a charity called "Ranch Hope". During the festival the band (our worship team) plays a couple of sets. This year we were blessed to also have another church join in the festivities. It is a church that uses our building to hold their services in; they meet in the afternoon and throughout the week. The cool part about it is that this church is Spanish speaking. We were blessed this year to have their band (worship team) play alongside our band and do a couple of sets to break up the 5 hour long event.
Their drummer (in the yellow shirt towards the right back, facing away and sitting down) was amazing. He has only been playing for two years and sounds as good as our drummer. He kept the beat really well while adding his own flare to his playing. Oh yeah, he's twelve!!! Amazing kid, was very modest about it!
Andrew had a blast eating strawberry shortcake! Jer's mom and dad also came down for the weekend to visit and went with us to the festival.
Last year the weather was miserable, 95 degrees plus humidity and little to no breeze (plus I was 8 months pregnant!). This year was quite pleasant. It was warm, but the shade was comfortable, and there was a nice cool breeze!
