So, ever since the 9/11 Memorial started construction and was built Jeremy and I have been talking about wanting to head up to New York and check it out. Out of the blue one afternoon Jeremy asked me if I wanted to go up and see it that weekend, I think it was a Wednesday or Thursday night after he got home from work that he asked. We did not have any plans, so on a whim we began looking into the details, and surprisingly enough were able to pull everything together in order to head up. (for those who don't know, you have to get tickets to go and see the memorial, it is free, but they only allow you to visit if you have a ticket)
While we were up there we walked everywhere and got to see and visit a lot of other things. Above is Andrew in "Thomas" at the ToysRUs, and of course we found lots of shops that sold Yankee items, this was just one of the many store front window displays! Oh yeah, Jer is not smiling due to a missing tooth, poor guy!!!
Time Square
New Years Eve Ball
Hershey's Store
Rockefeller Center
We had lunch in Central Park, there was a crazy climbing playground there that Andrew got to run around and enjoy, he did not want to leave!(surprise, surprise) He was a trooper that whole day, pretty much walked everywhere, towards the end of the day he began to lose it, but we really couldn't have asked for him to be better, he did a great job.
Paul Jr Designs 9/11 Memorial bike (located across the street from the memorial; completely destroyed by the water damage among everything else in New York due to the hurricane)
We went to Trump Towers, where the Trump bike, by OCC was on display, but they had already taken it out and we missed it by about a week or two, oh well, can't see them all!
Some pictures from the Memorial. It was really breathtaking, pictures can't truly express the magnitude of it
This tree is the one that was in one of the towers. The only part that was left was a stump, they took it out and brought it back to life and placed it at the memorial. Even after the hurricane waters destroyed a lot of New York (only two week later!), this tree still survived (talk about amazing)
All in all, we had a great time, glad we were able to get it in before the baby!
