We had quite the adventure this year with Halloween! Jeremy's parents had planned to come down for the weekend to visit. They ended up staying till late on Saturday because the East coast was suppose to get hit by the hurricane at any time. We had gotten hit that summer by another freak storm literally the night before Andrew's birthday party. It had knocked out the power and we had gone without power for about 4 days (not bad in comparison to some people, some were left without power for more than a week!) We still had his party since we had a bunch of people coming and a ton of food to get rid of, and a cake and cupcakes that needed to be eaten; but it was miserably hot! My parents, Aunt Kelly, and Uncle Ronnie came down for the party the night before, and got to experience the freak storm with us, too) Luckily we have a gas stove, so we were able to cook the food that we had planned to put into crock pots. We ended up having to cancel the bounce house and put out all of our lawn water toys and pools, which worked out great because it kept everyone (especially the kids) cool. Everyone pitched in, thank you everyone! Also, my in-laws had a generator they were not using and graciously allowed us to borrow it that week(complete blessing!!! could not have made it through without it) This was also before we had found out that I was expecting, so add that to my list of problems with heat, etc. made for an awesome time. Anyway, back to October. Going through the ordeal in June, Jeremy and his dad took to finding us a generator, which made for quite the chore because that is exactly what everyone else was doing up and down the East coast. We were fortunate to find 2, and were able to help out our neighbor and give one to them. So while Jeremy and his dad were out shopping, his mom and I took Andrew trick-or-treating that night. Andrew had a wonderful time, got lots of candy, and his Grammy got to have some quality time with her grandson. Thank you to both of them for being troopers and helping us out!
As you can see, Andrew was a cowboy sheriff this year. The special part of this costume is the jacket. It was my Uncle Steven's. He wore it when he was about Andrew's age. Andrew loves wearing it, he wore it for the next week, everyday, I ended up having to hide it because I didn't want it to get destroyed by fingers covered in food and such.
